Growing Hemp

WARNING: This page is not about medical marijuana which is a very separate subject. You can learn more about growing cannabis seed and medical marijuana, but this section is for Growing Industrial Hemp.

Right now the world needs industrial hemp and the industry is being held up by lack of supply. You can profit from hemp by earning $1500-$2500 per hectare. You may be interested in growing it, or managing someone else to grow for you, but first you may like to learn more about Growing Industrial Hemp, read on...

People grow hemp today in at least 31 countries. Almost every major industrialized nation permits hemp farming: Britain, Canada, France, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia and South Africa to name a few. In Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union and China they never stopped growing hemp. These countries produce the supply of hemp imported into the USA. You cannot grow hemp in the USA still - one of the last countries in the world.

There is clear legislation in these countries to differentiate growing hemp and marijuana (drug form of cannabis).

Hemp farming requires good soil, water and nutrients, like any crop to thrive, though hemp is known to survive in most circumstances. It is realistic to harvest up to 14 ton of dry hemp stem and 2 ton of hemp seed per hectare. The uses of these raw materials are explained throughout this website - just follow the menu options on the right and above.

There is conflicting information about the specifics of growing hemp in different countries. Having worked for over 20 years in the industry I have been able to distinguish the facts from the fiction and have summarized those, with details of how much money you can make from small hobby farming to a larger scale hemp growing operation in my newest book. In Growing Hemp For Profit you will find detailed and specific information on soils, nutrients, pre-crop, companion cropping, soil preparation, temperature and irrigation, seeds, cultivars, sow rate, sow method, irrigation, pests, seed storage, yields, harvesting, processing, gross margins, plant breeder rights, fertilizer, baling, haulage, varieties of hemp seeds, fibre crops, seeds crops and dual crops.
